The wave dash levels that broke me were not the ones I expected

I went in braced for the late game. Everyone knows the deal with games like this: the opening wave dash levels are a warm-up, the middle ones teach you the rhythm, and the final stretch is where the game takes your lunch money. So I warmed up, learned the rhythm, and cruised along feeling competent for almost a whole evening.

Then one specific section stopped me cold. Not a finale, not a boss, just a mid-tier stretch where the corridor dips and climbs in a pattern my hands flatly refused to memorize. I cleared it on attempt number somewhere past the point of counting. Everything after it? Mostly fine. The difficulty here doesn't rise in a straight line, it just hides a few teeth where you aren't looking.

So now I treat every level like it's hiding one of those sections. First run is reconnaissance. Second run is where I slow down at whatever killed me. Third run is usually the clear. It's not a glamorous system, but it has cut my rage quits roughly in half, which my keyboard appreciates.

The late levels still loom, and maybe they're as nasty as advertised. But I've stopped fearing the difficulty curve and started fearing the quiet dips in the middle of otherwise friendly runs. Trust nothing. Especially not a corridor that looks generous.
